WHO WE ARE

GSC Architects is led by principal Tom Cornelius, AIA.  Our multi-disciplinary staff allows GSC to match work demands for our clients. We work collectively to form specific teams of experts for each unique project, enabling success throughout the entire process of design, from site planning to final equipment installation and occupancy. Using an integrated, “problem seeking” approach, dedicated team members proactively look for potential conflicts, proposing solutions before they become issues. In this way, GSC maximizes natural and purchased resources for our clients. GSC is a recipient of the coveted “Firm Achievement Award” from the Austin Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. The annual award is the highest honor that AIA Austin can bestow on an architecture firm for contributions to the community, the profession and for producing distinguishing architecture.

LATEST NEWS

Doing The Most Good

We spent a special morning in the very best company at the ribbon cutting for the new Salvation Army Rathgeber Center. It was a pure joy listening to our city officials and Salvation Army brass talk about the safe haven and inspiration this facility will provide for Austin’s women and children in need. We are so proud to be part of the great Austin community who poured their heart and soul into the project to help the amazing folks at Salvation Army make an extraordinary new place.

High Tech + Natural Beauty

The innovative new office floor and stunning IoT showroom for our favorite technology firm are finally complete! It is such a joy to work with clients who champion forward-thinking architecture and interior design. We tagged along with our favorite photographer Alex Tice Gray of Impressive Spaces to capture it all in photos, and can’t wait to showcase this project!

Austin’s New Research Park

Creating inspiring spaces inside and out!

With its striking combination of expansive oak trees, modern design and rich textural landscape, the newly designed Research Park calls to tenants in the surrounding buildings to come enjoy the great outdoors.  Pairing perfectly with the way Austin works and plays, the courtyard offers multiple workstations with USB and power capabilities, a massive shade structure for all sorts of gatherings, an endless array outdoor seating options, a sturdy ping pong table and or course, a designated food truck zone.

SERVICES

GSC Architects’ design philosophy is founded on our desire to create unique buildings and places that respond to each unique client. We believe that each design should respond to the needs of our client while also cultivating a sense of community. At GSC Architects, we operate from a design methodology in which projects are based on context and discovered through a problem seeking process. We are proud to work with a wide range of clients, both old and new, and to create customized and important designs.

GSC Architects has a collection of passionate interior designers with an impressively diverse portfolio spanning a large range of business sectors including corporate, health care, higher education, k-12, and technology. These experienced and innovative design professionals bring inspired designs to everything they touch and have full access to GSC’s large, technically skilled staff.

GSC Architects has extensive experience integrating sustainable design principles in projects ranging from a 2,000 square foot commercial retail bank to an 875,000 square foot technology corporate campus. Each of these projects respond uniquely in regards to client needs while employing strategies to respond to the site and natural environment, reduce water use, conserve energy, and provide healthier environments for building users. This process creates better-performing buildings and healthier indoor environments.

Sustainability is not only about the health of the natural environment, but is also the improvement of the health and well-being of the building occupants. GSC Architects is a member and supporter of the U.S. Green Building Council and two-thirds of our staff are LEED® Accredited Professionals. The firm also has employees experienced in the Austin Energy Green Building Program. These nationally and locally recognized green building rating systems can be an integral component of the sustainable design goals of any client and program. In addition to providing sustainable design services to our clients, our firm strives to be cognizant of these principles and strategies in our actions and operational practices. We are an Austin Energy GreenChoice® Champion, purchasing renewable energy for the operation of our office. We also use high efficiency computer systems and have an office-wide recycling program.

GSC brings deep understanding and experience in furniture planning. Our recently completed, award-winning educational facility was the Austin Community College Round Rock Campus in Round Rock, Texas, in which we provided comprehensive FF&E services for the 254,000 sf campus. Our clients tell us that our broad understanding of the important integration of furniture planning and interior design greatly distinguishes us from our peers. During the planning process, GSC brings targeted, creative, and individual solutions to you, drawing from a broad base of specialized experience.

GSC has personnel dedicated to construction services, utilizing proven procedures and comprehensive construction software to streamline the process. Over the long history of our firm, GSC has worked with numerous contractors to meet accelerated schedules and produce a wide range of building types to respond to the needs of our clients.
