WHO WE ARE

GSC Architects is managed by three principals, Tom Cornelius, Joe LaRocca and Phil Scott. Our multi-disciplinary staff allows GSC to match work demands for our clients. We work collectively to form specific teams of experts for each unique project, enabling success throughout the entire process of design, from site planning to final equipment installation and occupancy. Using an integrated, “problem seeking” approach, dedicated team members proactively look for potential conflicts, proposing solutions before they become issues. In this way, GSC maximizes natural and purchased resources for our clients. GSC is a recipient of the coveted “Firm Achievement Award” from the Austin Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. The annual award is the highest honor that AIA Austin can bestow on an architecture firm for contributions to the community, the profession and for producing distinguishing architecture.

ABOUT OUR FIRM

GSC ARCHITECTS

IS A FULL SERVICE ARCHITECTURE AND INTERIOR DESIGN FIRM. WE ELEVATE OUR CLIENTS’ VISIONS OF SUCCESS BY DESIGNING BUILT ENVIRONMENTS TO CULTIVATE COMMUNITY.

GSC’s understanding of group dynamics and communal interaction dates back to the company formation in 1978, and has led us to organize our practice into four key departmental areas: Learning environments, Working environments, Healing environments and Living environments. These areas encompass several industry segments, including Higher Education and K-12 Education, Corporate, Science/Technology, Healthcare, Senior Living, Retail/ Hospitality and Civic/ Government. We continuously build our clients’ success by creating efficiency, utilizing our strong professional relationships with builders and municipalities, and providing inherently sustainable building assets.

Architecture GSC’s design philosophy is founded on our desire to create unique buildings and places that respond to each unique client. We believe that each design should respond to the needs of our client while also cultivating a sense of community. At GSC Architects, we operate from a design methodology in which projects are based on context and discovered through a problem seeking process. We are proud to work with a wide range of clients, both old and new, and to create customized and important designs.

Interior DesignGSC Architects has a collection of passionate interior designers with an impressively diverse portfolio spanning a large range of business sectors including corporate, health care, higher education, k-12, and technology. These experienced and innovative design professionals bring inspired designs to everything they touch and have full access to GSC’s large, technically skilled staff.

SustainabilityGSC Architects has extensive experience integrating sustainable design principles in projects ranging from a 2,000 square foot commercial retail bank to an 875,000 square foot technology corporate campus. Each of these projects respond uniquely in regards to client needs while employing strategies to respond to the site and natural environment, reduce water use, conserve energy, and provide healthier environments for building users. This process creates better-performing buildings and healthier indoor environments.

Sustainability is not only about the health of the natural environment, but is also the improvement of the health and well-being of the building occupants. GSC Architects is a member and supporter of the U.S. Green Building Council and two-thirds of our staff are LEED® Accredited Professionals. The firm also has employees experienced in the Austin Energy Green Building Program. These nationally and locally recognized green building rating systems can be an integral component of the sustainable design goals of any client and program. In addition to providing sustainable design services to our clients, our firm strives to be cognizant of these principles and strategies in our actions and operational practices. We are an Austin Energy GreenChoice® Champion, purchasing renewable energy for the operation of our office. We also use high efficiency computer systems and have an office-wide recycling program.

Furniture PlanningGSC brings deep understanding and experience in furniture planning.
