Ribbon Cutting Celebration for the new Mexican Consulate in Houston

The Mexican Consulate in Houston: Ribbon Cutting Celebration

We were honored to be part of Friday’s Ribbon Cutting Celebration for the new Mexican Consulate in Houston!!

The sunset-hued baffles, glossy cement floors, and gallery walls filled with vibrant paintings on the 3rd floor provided the perfect background for a heartfelt morning of celebration. An impressive lineup of Mexican dignitaries, TXDOT leaders, and the Mayor of Houston joined Consul General Alicia Kerber Palma to cut the enormous red ribbon. They were cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd filled with US Congress members Houston Police Department and many others who brought this project to life.

Many speeches followed, each official sharing their excitement for the new building and appreciation for the special friendship and spirit of collaboration between Houston and Mexico that grew throughout this four-year process for relocation and renovation. GSC Architects and Harvey builders were along nearly every step of the way, and this has been a true passion project for all of us.

Between the speeches and indoor ceremonies, dignitaries and guests enjoyed a lively dance performance in the new courtyard. The high priestess conducted the outdoor ceremony and brought in several guests and officials to help light the ceremonial fires.  After the dancing, guests returned inside to tour the consulate, witness the signing of an MOU with an impressive lineup of Houston Business Chambers, and enjoy an endless buffet of spicy Mexican sweets.  This vibrant opening ceremony will be one we never forget.
